An Uneasy Calm
It's been five years since the Defeat of the Kabal and the decimation of their numbers by the Arganian Forces. Such a battle took its toll on the forces. After the last battle, the Battle for Black Sanctuary, the Kabal were defeated, but the losses to the Arganian Army were numerous and painful to say the least. Queen Kaelyn's Forces were easily cut by half, the losses of Senior Officers left only a General in her employ and a number of soldiers under her thumb. Supplementing the Guard Force as Soldiers has helped ease this transition, however, it has not been without its problems.
The Mages of Argania all but left, fearing reprisal from its citizens. The Mages' Tower, left unattended quickly fell to shambles, needing repairs, and powerful magics to rebuild the circle. While magic was never outlawed in the Kingdom, it is something to be used sparingly as some people have yet to come to terms with the true nature of Magic. That in the hands of a good willed person, it can be good, while in the hands of evil, it can be used to destroy and enslave everything.
Prince Kaldor DeMir, caused quite the uproar when he left the lands to return to his native homelands. Causing many to believe that this was the fall of Argania. However, his return five years later caused some same dissent amongst the people, as they believed his flight to be a way of shirking his responsibilities as a Prince. While many would secretly wish he would give up his title and position, the Queen has stood strong in support of Kaldor.
Prince James DeKain was the next to leave, after the battle, James found himself woefully unprepared for the nightmares that lay ahead. Believing that solitude and training was the answer. He left, heading North into the Snow Peaked Mountains, he remained there for five years, alone, training with only himself as a foe. Living in the wild, with only the basic essentials, James returned five years later, talking about a Warlock named Magus, and his fear. While many think this to be the ramblings of a Prince who had gone insane during his time without contact from people, even more feared his lack of people skills during that timeframe, worrying about his lack of interaction not only with the Queen but with the people. Becoming even more Reclusive than when he went up into the Mountains to train.
Five years... A lot can happen in five years. Assassination Attempts, Civil Uprisings, entire wars have been fought in less time. But the Royal Party of Argania has returned once again, and with their return, people have been coming to Argania more and more. But the story is not over. As everyone sits and waits in the uneasy calm, wondering who the next problem will be, and how the people can handle it.
